Antus, B.: New trends in the Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) treatment: use of long-acting bronhodilators
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is endemic in the developed world, with 6-8% of the population suffering from various stages of the disease. The most important risk factor for COPD is cigarette smoking. According to the latest GOLD guideline, bronchodilator therapy with long-acting β2-agonists and long-acting muscarinic antagonists used alone or in combination with each other has major role in the pharmacologic treatment of the disease.

Distribution of medication via the internet is filled with generalization. Opinions may vary from stigmatizing the whole process being illegal, to saying this is a minor issue for the profession. Authorities, regulatory systems on both EU and national level recognised the potential threat of illegal Internet supply of pharmaceuticals and the benefits delivered by mail-order. Numerous changes have happened in the context of regulation of Internet pharmacies and mail ordering of pharmaceuticals in the EU during the past half decade. Thus, the Authors summarize up-to-date information about the Hungarian and international regulatory environment, the size of the EU online pharmacy market, the market operators and typical consumer attitudes. Based on our findings, purchase of medications via the internet has a growing tendency although no single homogeneous consumer group can be defined.
